Our students came together to celebrate the Month of the Military Child by helping decorate our school with their beautiful creations. Our Military Family Life Counselor, Ms. Hart, worked alongside students as they stamped their fingerprints to create their own dandelion artwork.

Dandelions are a symbol of military children because of their strength, resilience, and ability to grow and thrive wherever they are planted.

Our students got to take a closer look at caring for others during our Career Day!

From a dedicated nurse to a TCHATT therapist, and even our incredible student health presenters from Cove High school, our Bulldawgs saw firsthand the many paths to making a difference in the medical field.

Thank you to our guest speakers for sharing your knowledge, experiences, and heart for helping others. You’re inspiring the next generation of caregivers and leaders! 🐾💙💛

Our Career Day got a serious boost of energy thanks to our very own Ms. Q (a former Army soldier) who had our students marching, calling cadence, and even knocking out push-ups and sit-ups like a true team! 💪

She shared what it means to serve, stay strong, and work together, leaving our Bulldawgs feeling motivated and proud.

Thank you, Ms. Q, for your service and for inspiring our future leaders!

Teacher of the Year Q&A
Name: Miranda DeLeon

Position: ESL/ Lead interventionist/ STUCO sponsor/ Digital Learning Leader for HHE

Years in Education: This is my 13th year in education

Years at Halstead: My 3rd year here at HHE

What do you love most about your job? What I love most about my job is seeing my students grow and gain confidence, especially my EB/ RTI babies. Those “aha” moments mean everything. I also love building relationships with my students, their families, and my team. It truly feels like we’re all working together to make a difference 💙💛

What inspired you to work in education? My aunt was a 2nd grade teacher, and I thought she was the coolest. I wanted to be just like her growing up, and that passion never really left me.

What is your favorite part of the school day? My favorite part of the school day is small group time. I stay busy all day, but when I finally sit down with my groups, that’s when I really get to connect with my students, support them where they are, and see their growth up close. Those are the moments that matter most. 💙

What do you enjoy doing outside of school? I love spending time with my family and just being together, laughing, and having our dance parties at home. Those are my favorite moments!!

A favorite memory from this school year: My favorite memory from this year is seeing my students hit their goals and celebrate their growth. Whether it’s moving up a level, gaining confidence, or finally “getting it,” those moments remind me why I do what I do.

Paraprofessional of the Year Q&A

Name: Mia Galit

Position/Grade Level: Paraprofessional

Years in Education: 7

Years at Halstead: 1

What do you love most about your job? I love being able to support students and watch them grow, both academically and personally. It’s incredibly rewarding to know I can make a positive difference in their day and be someone they can rely on.

What inspired you to work in education? I’ve always had a deep passion for teaching and helping children learn and grow. There is something truly meaningful about guiding students as they discover new things, build confidence, and reach their potential. Being part of their journey, even in small ways, brings me so much joy and purpose, and it’s what inspired me to pursue a career in education.

What is your favorite part of the school day? My favorite part is interacting with the students—whether it’s helping them understand something new, encouraging them, or simply sharing a smile or laugh that brightens their day.

What do you enjoy doing outside of school? I enjoy spending quality time with my family, relaxing, and doing activities that help me recharge, like planting and caring for my garden.

A favorite memory from this school year: One of my favorite memories is seeing students overcome challenges and celebrating their achievements, no matter how big or small. Those moments are truly special and remind me why I love what I do.

Please join us in congratulating them on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud of the impact they make every single day!
