Ms. Burnell’s 3rd graders turned into mini meteorologists as they built and tested their very own weather vanes! Using their creations, students learned how to determine wind direction and see weather science in action. Hands-on learning, teamwork, and curiosity were blowing through the classroom!

Yesterday, we turned hard work into a celebration as we cheered on our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders for crushing the practice STAAR test. They had incredible focus, took their time, and their results showed amazing growth. To celebrate, students enjoyed cookies and pizza while jamming out to everyone’s favorite K-Pop Demon Hunters. We are so proud of their focus and commitment to doing their best. Way to go, Bulldawgs! 💛💙🐾

Boom boom clap! Our second six weeks pep rally brought the energy all the way up as a surprise drumline visit turned the gym into a rhythm-filled celebration of Bulldawg pride. Students and staff cheered their hearts out during an epic full-body Rock, Paper, Scissors showdown where the students claimed the win and the bragging rights.
The Spirit Stick also made its appearance, and congratulations to Ms. Klein for earning it with her outstanding school spirit. From the beats to the cheers, it was the perfect way to wrap up the six weeks and celebrate everything that makes Halstead such a special place.

Halstead's Carnival yesterday was a blast for every grade level! Even with the weather keeping us indoors, the gym was full of energy as students jumped on bounce houses, raced through the inflatable obstacle course, and took their best shots at the inflatable basketball dunk. Attention Bulldawg families:
Our Lost & Found has officially become a winter coat shelter. 🥶
If your child has been mysteriously “losing” jackets, hoodies, or sweatshirts, chances are they’re all hanging out together waiting to be claimed. Please check the Lost & Found before Friday, because cold weather + winter break = sad, lonely coats.

Fifth grade students had a great time learning how to make grilled cheese with Ms. Peoples. From buttering the bread to flipping the sandwich at just the right moment, students learned the steps needed to create a perfectly golden grilled cheese. Along the way, they practiced following directions, kitchen safety, and responsibility while preparing a classic favorite.
Learning has never tasted so good! 💛💙🐾

We loved welcoming the S.C. Lee Junior High Band and Choir to Halstead Elementary for a festive holiday performance! Their Christmas Tour brought music, cheer, and inspiration to our campus and gave our students a glimpse of the amazing opportunities that await them in the years ahead.

A special highlight of the visit was seeing several former Halstead students, now members of the band and choir, return to our campus. They even took time to pose for a photo, making the moment extra meaningful for our students and staff.

Thank you to the talented musicians, singers, directors, and staff for spreading holiday joy and representing S.C. Lee with such pride and spirit. We are always proud to see our Bulldawgs shine!

Our 5th graders in Ms. Tollette’s class turned detectives the other day as they investigated a mock crime scene to learn all about the three branches of government! Through hands-on clues and teamwork, students discovered how the legislative, executive, and judicial branches each play an important role in making and upholding laws. Learning civics has never been this exciting!
