Every day from October 1st to January 31st during 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade lunch, we’ll be turning off the lights in the cafeteria to save energy and raise awareness about how small actions can make a big difference. By using less electricity, we’re not only helping reduce pollution but also showing our students the power of simple, everyday choices.
This initiative encourages everyone to think about how they can make their own positive impact. Whether it’s turning off lights, powering down devices, or finding new ways to save energy at home!
Way to go Halstead! 💙🐾💛

Wear different colored socks, mixed patterns, or a wild combo of clothes the more mismatched, the better!

We’re inviting all students, families, and staff to collect and donate your pull tabs. Every tab adds up, and the school that collects the most tabs by weight will be the winner!
It’s easy to help, just save the tabs you pull off cans at home and bring them to school. All proceeds from the tabs go directly to support the Ronald McDonald House, helping families stay close to their children when they need it most.
Together, we can show that even the smallest actions can have a big impact on our community and the environment!

5th Graders Conquer Stage Fright at Their Poetry Slam!
Ms. Tollette’s 5th graders turned their classroom into a stage for their very own Poetry Slam! Before writing their own poems, students read and discussed two poems, “Stage Fright” and “Foul Shot.” Through these poems, they explored how words can capture emotions, tell a story, and connect with others.
With those lessons in mind, students then set out to create their own original poems, drawing from their personal experiences, imagination, and creativity. The next big step? Overcoming a little stage fright of their own! One by one, they stood in front of their classmates to share their work aloud, showing courage, confidence, and pride in their writing.
What started as a lesson in poetry turned into a celebration of self-expression and bravery.
We’re so proud of these talented young writers for stepping up to the mic and showing that every voice deserves to be heard! 💙🐾💛
